Akbar Torkan, Pars Oil and Gas Companys CEO said:” despite the U.S. political pressures, Iranian $16 billion contract with China for developing North Pars gas field will be finalized in February.”
Akbar Torkan talking to France Press said: “Iran will hold talks with China National Offshore Oil Corp (CNOOC) to finalize the $16 billion contract in February.” Pars Oil and Gas Company’s CEO pointed out:” the contract has 4 steps and it depends on the negotiations to make the deal.” A preliminary deal for the South Pars development project was announced in December between Iran and China National Offshore Oil Corp (CNOOC) which is the largest Chinese oil company and leads Chinas LNG industry. The U.S. congress made a statement disagreeing with the contact pointing the china investment in Iran is overlooking the U.S. sanctions. The U.S. administration stated the contract is not the responsible one since Iran is going to be sanctioned by U.N. Security Council; china foreign ministry stockperson urged Washington not to interfere in China domestic affairs. The deal would involve investment of $16 billion to develop Irans North Pars gas field and to build plants to build liquefied natural gas (LNG). CNOOC and Iran would have a 50 percent share each .investment is by China; 5 billion in exploration and production and $11 billion in other projects.
