Pakistani cabinet heading the Prime Minister approved an agreement to share gas supplies with India in Iran-Pakistan-India pipeline project.

In the second phase, Iran will increase the supply to 5.3 billion cubic feet; Pakistan would get 2.1 billion cubic feet and India 3.2 billion cubic feet per day.
Ahamd Vaghar, the deputy of Pakistan’s Oil Minister, in a news conference said:
“The cabinet has also approved a plan under which Iran will construct the pipeline up to the Pakistani border and Pakistan up to the Indian border. The pipeline construction in Pakistan may cost $ 3 billion.
The economic committee in Pakistani cabinet has approved the gas pricing mechanism and has announced that it will have an official approval to the mechanism when India makes similar decision.
The construction work on the project is expected to start next year and will be completed in four years. And gas transit will be started in 2012. Ahamd Vaghar added: “Iran has already started the work to construct its own share of the pipeline”.
